RDS API - Application Programming Interface

The term API is an acronym for “Application Programming Interface.” It is the means by which multiple different applications can communicate with each other, sharing vital information without you, the consumer, having to physically log into each separate application to retrieve data.

Most organisations have different departments with different processes. Invariably, most end up with multiple applications to run their day to day tasks and very quickly, the need arises for a digest of the various status of each department, hence the need for an API.

Thankfully, most major software providers now specify an API, though which one can communicate with the their application to achieve various tasks. Examples include Googles API and those provided by accounting software's e.g. XERO and QUICKBOOKS. Now all you need is an API of your own to automatically input data, retrieve data and send you alerts from your chosen software providers.
